Not sure if you bought it new or used so don't mind the next question. Does it have spoked wheels? If so yes it is tubed... might be able to repair it but it is safer to replace. You only have one rear tire and the piece of mind is so much more valuable then a patched repair. JMO
I have an '09 bob...had a nail in the rear tire this past summer. I took the tire off and took it to my local indy where they replaced the tube for me. I kept the same tire (which is still mounted) and have had no problems with it. If you have good tread left I'd say just buy a tube and replace the punctured one.
Edit: Bigmikaele, I misread your post...I was thinking you said replace the tire.
Anyway, ditto to what you said.
I have a 09 FXDB as well. Yes, tube. Yes can be replaced. As for repairing the tire, like many of said it's possible to repair...but I'd look at where the nail was how close to the side, size of the puncture. But I'd also look to replace the tire probably. IMHO.
Small hole in the middle and not near the side is OK with a good patch.
If it works on big trucks then it should work no problem on a bike tire.
Even with a new tube the tire needs a good patch, one that covers a good area.
I wonder if that tire is covered . Did you purchase raod hazzrd insurance when you bought it?
