You can run the bike through all the gears, and effortlessly move it around the garage. You do not have to even think about straps.

BTW... I have a used one for sale with drip pan if anyone wants to save some cash.
I like the drip pan. I only got it because there was a "free accessory" promotion when I bought it. I position a drain pan on the legs of the lift, and it stays in the right place while moving the jack around. While working on my engine, I left the drain plug out for awhile to allow as complete a drain as possible... It was very handy to be able to wheel the bike around while it was still draining without anything getting messy. I didn't need to drain the tranny at the same time, but I easily could've without anything hitting the floor...

I bought a Sears jack years ago when I was still riding a brand X bike and it works flawlessly on my 98 H-D FXDL. I've never had to ever use blocks or straps of any kind. very stable jack the only thing is the rubber pads are beat to **** at this point from all the use over the last 10 years or more. I'm going to make my own at some point because I can't seem to find replacement's.

My modified Sears jack does the job. Had to use longer bolts than what the video showed to get enough clearance and it's still tight because of the kickstand. Bigger issue is after the mod it just barely works on my other 2 bikes now.

I just use a regular lift and place a couple paperback books to shim up the left side. Best use for those "trash" novels!

another +1 for J&S Jack. Very stable and able to move it around when it's up if needed.

One more vote for a modified Sears or Harbor Freight. Had my Softail and Dyna up in the air many times. Zero concerns. Grade 8 all the way.

I will get a J&S eventually but not out of necessity.
