I have been thinking of buying some sort of EFI tuner since buying my Fat Bob last year. The Bob ran good but I just thought there was room to run better overall and it always seemed to run warmer than I thought it should. This week I broke down called Fuel Moto and ordered a new Power Vision unit they installed two custom tunes for me and it arrived to my house 4 days from the day it was ordered. Last night I read the papers that came with the P-Vision and watched some you tube videos. I was still alittle unsure about everything the unit can do but felt I could hook up and flash a custom program so after work this evening I went to give it a shot. Man I was surpised on how easy it was in less than 5 minutes and not one issue I had the custom program flashed and the bike was running great. I still don't clam to know everything this unit does but after a ride I know bike runs better than it ever has and the running temp is much lower which makes me very happy. I was looking at installing a oil cooler to lower my running temp but I don't think I will have to do that now some more riding time will tell me for sure. Anyway I wish I would have bought a EFI tuner last summer I am kicking myself for waiting so long my idle is smoother, power feels better, bike is running cooler. I should kick myself I guess live and learn as they say.
I plan going to a full exhaust system(I have SE slip ons) in the next 60 days so they down loaded a custom program to match my future setup for me also.
I've installed the stage I, the JP 4"ers and the PV. Flawless! The bike runs excellent, with NO detonation or throttle lag. Way to go Jamie! It's been cold here, so I only have about 100 miles on so far. In a couple of weeks I'm going to install the PV on a techmount and start working with it more.
Must say I like the JP slipons so far. The tone is nice, and volume is just right for me.
BTW, I was also surprised at how easy it was to flash the ECM with the PV. Within minutes I had my custom tune from FuelMoto installed. The youtube helped alot.
is this an advertisement thread lol.... i checked youtube, not much to really go on, on the videos other than a new ecm progammer that removes the power commander from the equation all together. you plug in a few numbers and percentages, and you can reset or modify your stock ecm... that sounds really cool. but how is the idle setting... i thought setting the idle was something not possible with these dyno jet gadgets
Dumb question. Last year I got a PCV. What's the difference between the two? I know the PCV stays on the bike. Does the power vision don't? I would think if it don't, that would be better. The less I have on my bike the less that can't go wrong/tear up/break.
09lowrider,
Please don't mistake me for an expert, but i believe that the PC3, PC5, and V&H tuners all work in-line with the ECM sensor inputs to add a bias or offset to the sensor inputs to the ECM. For example, by making the inputs to the ECM look like the bike is running too lean the tuner can trick the ECM into running richer to compensate. Conversely, the PV unit attaches to the bikes diagnostic port, just like SERT, TTS, etc. and updates the flash memory in the ECM, and can then be removed.
CRSYLGZZ,
The in-line tuners don't have any direct way to affect idle, but the flash based turners can directly modify the Idle RPM table in the ECM.

Glad to hear it's so easy to work and that the bike runs so smooth. I just ordered mine!!!!!!! Can't wait to get it!!!
