Ok.. I am what seems like an inch from finishing up my winter mods. Switched out my chrome console for a black one from a FXDB (found GREAT info on moding up the console to fit my bike here), relocated to the forks and replaced my front signals, changed grips, and replaced the stock levers with trigger levers....and there seems to be that last inch.
To change the levers - I had to disconnect the clutch cable - and getting the tension off required completely loosening the clutch cable. I thought I had it adjusted correctly, grabs at the right place etc...Only one problem: on road testing - can't shift past 2nd gear. Closer inspection reveals that the lever doesn't "return" after up shift. So when I try to shift up again, it's got nowhere to go. If I try to gently push the lever back down, it of course goes into neutral.
One last thing, though I doubt it's related. I dropped the bike on the left side in a very low speed spill. Rear tire found some sand in a turn on me.
Or it's not adjusted far enough out. You want a definitive answer post some pics of the hand control where the cableeets, and the cable routing. Also I just thought of this but your cable could be snapped
The ball and ramp could be the culprit, but the pipes you have don't they cover the clutch cable over on the right side? You could have a job on your hands.
Thanks a LOT fells. Unfortunately it will be a little bit before I can check into your suggestions, as I am leaving for ten days today for Lithuania w/ my SO who's from there. I like the sound if binding, well I don't "like" it, but it makes more sense than a broken cable. Cables seem like things that either work or don't, not just for two gears.
God I hope it's not the ball and ramp. I will check out your suggestions when I return.
In the mean time ride safe and thanks again for all your helpful hints and comments.
Did you adjust the clutch basket behind the derby cover after you loosened tension on the cable? Or have you only loosed and tightened tension on the cable by the down tubes?

I only adjusted at the down tube. Something tells me I f'd up?
Yes you have to adjust the clutch behind the derby cover when ever you relieve tension on the cable with the cable adjustment nuts. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here but I bet that's your problem.
