Default Fuelpak and cam

I have an 07Fxd, with vance&hines shortshots, performance machine air intake kit and vance&hines fuelpak. I was thinking of going to a hotter cam, maybe a woods tw-555, i was wondering if the fuelpak would support this or if anyone has tried it. I know alot of people dont like the fuelpak, but would like to get some peoples thoughts. Thanks

You would have to call V/H and talk to them. They have control of the programing for the fuelpak.
I like to have control of my own fueler settings. Thats the biggest object that the F/P has against it.
I run a Dobeck EJK. I have total control over the settings.
I have Andrews 37H cams and was able to adjust my EJK for the cam change myself.

I emailed V&H just last week and ask that same question, haven't heard back from them yet...I've got a 2009 FXDC and want to do the same... I like the fuel-pac. it's always worked good for me and this is my second bike with it. If I hear from them I'll post their reply....

Thanks for the reply guys. 18 wheels, i called V&H and they said that the closest setting would be FP-2018. I dont know how close the map would be. I would be doing the swap myself, hoping to save a little $.

I would make sure the Wood TW-555 will work with the stock compression. If you go to too big on the cam (40deg. overlap and 41deg. intake close on this one) without raising the C/R, you will loose your low RPM drivability.
Do your research!

Um....Skip on down to the touring section where Fuel Moto has several threads where they have upgraded numerous stock twin cam 96 motors with those very same cams the OP wants to use . They work great with a +5 degree timing gear . Do your research !

Someone here had used the Fuelpak on a mildly cammed 95 incher with successful results. I am gonna try it also, eventually when I do my big bore kit and cams. Until then its only a "what I heard" from me.

If I am not happy with anything regarding rideability of that setup I will definitely switch to the Thundermax system..

Why shure! The +5 gear will change the cam timing and raise the corrected compression.
If you want the full capability of the cam, you need to raise the static compression.

I am really hoping the Andrews 37 cams and a set of forged 10.5:1 95 inch pistons work out to be a nice street setup. If my memory serves me correctly the fella that said the Fuelpak worked well was running a 95 kit on these cams as well. I just never asked him if he used the 10.5 pistons or the 10:1.

My V&H Fuelpak experience:

When I put a basic stage I on my Streetglide, the Fuelpak worked just fine...no issues. After a while I installed Wood TW6-6 gear driven cams, and kept the Fuelpak. I could never quite get the bike tuned just right. It didn't really like low rpms, and stuttered and missed a little from about 2000-2800 rpms. From 3000 rpms and up, it ran like a raped ape.

When I bored the eng to 103", and put on the SE Heads, the FuelPak was in way over its head. I couldn't get the bike tuned right, and it ran shitty. Lots of missing and stuttering in the lower rpms, and it still stuttered around 3000 rpms (normally the sweet spot).

I switched over to a TTS Master Tune, and had the bike dyno'ed by a pro. The difference is unbelievable. No stuttering, no missing...it just pulls like a freight train, and screams all the way to redline. Best move I ever made with this bike.

In summary, I would recommend the Fuelpak if you are staying with a basic Stage I, and nothing else. If you're going with cams, heads, and increased displacement, you're going to need something a little more sophisticated, like a TTS Master Tune, etc.
