I was hoping someone could help with a check engine light. I'm just finishing swapping the handlebars on my 07 Streetbob to 14" apes. I tried several times to start the bike and it wouldn't turn over. At first i thought it was due to a low battery charge. While trying to start it the dash/speedo lights would fliker out at points. I threw the battery on the charger. While waiting for that I discovered that i had failed to reconnect the fuel pump connection in the dash (electrical connector). Once i reconnected that and the battery was charged, the bike fired up fine except for after only a couple seconds of running the check engine light comes on.
I never removed the fuel tank to do the swap. I just pulled the fuel quick connect and slid the tank back. The only other thing i did was an oil change.
The throttle/idle cables are set right. The engine ran and sounded fine.
I know i have to replace the transmission side cover gasket. It got a little bent when i was trying to re-install it after swapping the clutch cable, and i noticed a small leak.
I'm not sure what else i could have done that would cause the light. Is it possible trying to start the bike a bunch of times with the fuel pump disconnected or the low battery would have set a code?
Is it possible to get any more info on the data link connector? Its not sitting at the electrical caddy like the manual shows. Its has tp be sitting with all the other connectors under the seat. I believe i know which one it is. The only thing is the manual shows only 3 wires running to the connector where this one has 4.
Ignore my last post....i didn't need that connector....sorry
So i ran the diagnostic an it showed an error code in the P area of the diagnostics module: ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI])
The code was P1004 which is: System Relay Contacts Closed
Does anyone have anything they can tell me about this?
