Is there any brand or make that is better and has show quality chrome compared to others please? I see that genuine HD ones are quite expensive, Kuryakyn not too bad and some on eBay that are around $45 are offered but the make isn't mentioned. What do you have and do you recommend covering the buttons also while they're apart?
Thanks again.

If you are looking for show quality chrome, you will be paying for it. I have not seen too many items on eBay that are show quality, the $45 covers are not show quality but look nice enough for every day. I bought one of the cheaper ones and had to do some cleanup before they fit properly. I left the OEM switch covers as I like the contrast b/w chrome and black.
The ones I have seen do indeed say that they are specifically show quality but are few and far between. If you need to have show quality then I would recommend attending a bike show and asking some of the exhibitors and the bike owners who are displaying their works of art.
Kuryakyn makes excellent covers and are far more reasonable than HD.
I didnt notice any difference between HD and Kuryakyn. I did use a set of Drag specialties ones and they looked pretty good. I had no complaints with any of the ones I have installed (HD, Kury, Drag). The chome looked good, no noticable imperfections or scratches.
I bought a set of chrome switch covers and hand controls from a big vendor on Ebay. I suppose they were an off-brand / no-name product. I was not happy with the fit and finish of the housings. I had to spend quite some time using a file to remove material from the edges of the openings to allow the switch to actually function once it was mounted in the housing. Everything works fine now but it took some time to do. You get what you pay for.
I don't know which is best, but it puzzles me that people will pay $15K+ for an American bike and then install $2K worth of chinese chrome. Not saying you are looking to do that and not saying I spend tons of cash on H-D stuff, but just saying pay the money to get the good ones.
