HD Dyna Sport Glide FXDX 2000 year, odometer: 2200 km.
My first ride in this season. After 30km of my ride due to unknown reasons, that require further examinations, the oil tank lid popped up by itself.
Who can explain it?
This happened to me years ago while riding my Heritage across Wyoming... Only happened that one time, and the bike was still pretty new.
The only thing I could come up with as to the reason, was the excessive wind - I was rolling along on I-80, and had a really strong cross wind the whole way through the state. The wind was coming from my left, and the oil spigot was on my right, so I thought that maybe enough of a low pressure on the side away from the wind made the plug pop out. Sounds crazy I know... but it was all I could come up with.
Just curious, do you consistently run at high RPM's, that would create high oil pressure which could cause it if the seal is weak. Does your air cleaner not have the crankcase ventilation? Did you block it off?

Mysticism!
Today was windy, +5C. May be I need to replace the cap 'cause my bike is 10 years old and the cap is rubber?

Usually I run at 3-4 RMP, not more. It's ok?
crankcase ventilation - ok, I didn't block it. But I'll check it.
