I had my 08 street bob well over 120 with a little left in her and that was the stock 96in. Of course that was in 6th gear and she was screaming! No motor work just hold on for dear life and twist!
When I had my '08 FXDL I'd run over 100 all the time. Now that I have an FXR that HAS NO 6TH GEAR I find that I dont approach the 100 mark NEARLY as much.
Man, I MISS that gear!!!!
How, exactly, did I knock anyone? I simply made a statement.
A bit sensitive, are we?
Besides... I still go too fast... just not as much too fast as I used to. The FXD has been up to around 115 or so, if I can trust the speedo... That was fast enough...
No idea how fast mine goes. I get up to 80 on the highway sometimes, but I don't usually stay there long. It's just a better ride @ 50-70. I took a CB650 up to 100 mph once back in the 80s just to see what it felt like. Now I know. It sucked lol.
70 with the cruise on seems to fit the bike and me best. When she was all stock, she was good for 105 in 5th gear....wouldn't hold 105 in 6th. Did it once out in BFE just to see what she had....3900 RPM in 5th gear. No wobble, bobble, anyting...smooth as silk.
Then....vowed I'd never do it on her again. I want to just cruise and enjoy the ride.

On my graduation night, I had my '68 cougar up to about 150 or more we estimated on a long straght stretch.
At that point, with the windows open, it sucked the headliner down. Scared the **** out of us...... so I let off... then got pulled over right after that. He clocked me at 70 in a 55. Whew.. lucky.
But in regards to bikes...I had a '79 Honda CB750F supersport. On the same long straight stretch... I got it up to 135.....and no kidding...a guy on a harley came around me like i was sitting still.
That was around 2am one night coming home from work..... I just let off and said..
"Damn"
I rode the rest of the way home about 75 thinkin how much of a badass I wasn't... lol.
