Well, I pulled the OEM starter, still hoping that it might just be a wire between the relay and the solenoid. No such, the photos below tell a rather dramatic story.
Is that not the most hideous looking starter?

Maybe this is the good lords way of telling you to take those noisy *** pipes off your bike so you can hear when something mechanical is wrong. Your free to fix sticky switch cost you the price of a new starter that otherwise would not have needed replacing. It's your bike and I don't mean to be in your face, but I wouldn't be surprised of a repeat performance. Different day, different part, different malfunction, but if you can't hear it going, it's going to be gone.
My new starter arrived, it is a 1.8kw Denso and it works beautifully. But don't tell clicker01 cause he will yell at me for not having taken off my 'noisy *** pipes'.
And don't tell him I took off my training wheels too, cause I'm sure that will push him over the edge...

Obviously! 15 minutes your starter was engaged and you didn't have a clue. Dang, every time you open your mouth, more stupid falls out
