Well, I pulled the OEM starter, still hoping that it might just be a wire between the relay and the solenoid. No such, the photos below tell a rather dramatic story.

Is that not the most hideous looking starter?

Things to do with a burnt starter.....an anchor for a small boat...door stop....paper weight... conversation piece in the living room. Any others?

I must say, I have learned a great deal about starters and solenoids. Even more about what not to do to them and how much they dislike constant power.

So all of you folks looking in, learn from my fail...

Oh, and never say you are done modifying your bike. The Good Lord has His way of telling you that you need a chrome starter!!!

Maybe this is the good lords way of telling you to take those noisy *** pipes off your bike so you can hear when something mechanical is wrong. Your free to fix sticky switch cost you the price of a new starter that otherwise would not have needed replacing. It's your bike and I don't mean to be in your face, but I wouldn't be surprised of a repeat performance. Different day, different part, different malfunction, but if you can't hear it going, it's going to be gone.

My new starter arrived, it is a 1.8kw Denso and it works beautifully. But don't tell clicker01 cause he will yell at me for not having taken off my 'noisy *** pipes'.

And don't tell him I took off my training wheels too, cause I'm sure that will push him over the edge...

Obviously! 15 minutes your starter was engaged and you didn't have a clue. Dang, every time you open your mouth, more stupid falls out
