Default Cams vs Warranty

Will changing cams in my 2011 WG void factory warranty if done by dealer?

Not supposed to..............But check with the warranty person at the service department at the dealer.

I have been researching and checking with the head service manager about doing the SE heads and a cam change for my bike after I saw a dyno report on a 96 cu.in. with 105 hp and 105ft.lbs. torque. that bike is tight and runs like a spanked ape. I am supposed to talk with him this afternoon about all the incidentals in making it happen.

It will void the warranty if the failure can be attributed to the cam. You will not be able to extend the warranty on the engine. Many dealers stand by their work and will repair but get it in writing. I spoke to HD and the warranty company on this.

While my 07 was still under warranty, I conversed with my dealer about doing a set of cams. He said "even if we added SE cams, it could void the warranty." I said "Using harley parts on a harley motorcycle could void the harley warranty? That doesn't make sense."

So.....a lot of times a dealer will honor the warranty. I've seen several forum members who bought the 103" big bore kit and had it done while the bike was getting prepped to be picked up. Depends on your dealer I guess.

The Screaming eagle brand is suppose to be Racing only that is where it will void your warranty

It will NOT void your warranty.....

Yes you can without voiding the warranty. Fortunately, there is a law called the Magnusson-Moss Act that says, in layman’s terms, an OEM cannot require a consumer to use an OEM part or fluid in order to maintain warranty coverage unless that part or fluid is provided free of charge.
Anytime someone tells you something will void the warranty, tell them to put it in writing and see what they do.
If you do something and they can PROVE it caused the problem, they do not have to cover repairs due to it under warranty, but it does not void your warranty all together.

Some dealers will install the parts and honor the warranty work at there shop. But that is iffie also. I rebuilt my motor with aftermarket parts. Which imho were better parts than stock harley. After I was done at the dealership with the work they performed I asked the question on warranty. Was told to comply with the warranty it would have to have stock Harley parts installed. FTS it has 45,000 mile now with 38,000 on rebuild and I would go coast to coast on it without blinking a eye. MOCO policy sucks...
