So I have a 2007 super glide custom and I'm thinking of getting new bars. What are the best looking for the super glide front end. I'm kinda wanting some z bar apes? Anybody with pics?
That's a rather personal question . I mean , totally based on each person's opinion . Blond, red head, or brunette . All can be beautiful , all can be butt ugly . What do YOU like ?
I like the Superglide bars as is......and I love them on my StreetBob. (as you can see in pic)
Z's don't do it for me at all....I'm not fond of Apes either.
+1 on most of these comments....it all personal preference. I too like the stock bars, they are comfortable for me. There are a metric ton of options for you though..
Yep...that's a rather opinionated question. The bars I got worked best for the look I was going for. Get what works best for you. Word of advice, look at the big picture, and not just the bar. Try to think ahead of time about the completed look you're giong for before obligating to a bar. That will help you to decide. Are you going with just a bar? Or are there other plans?
For example, I think some bars look better with a fat padded seat vs. stock seat vs. barebones...some tie in better with a stock exhaust, some better with a 2-1 etc...some look better with a lifted tank, and others get overpowered by a lifted tank. It's better to get a good idea on what direction you want your bike to head in, and then build it from there. It's easy for someone to get a bunch of mods to make a bike theirs, and then have it look all thrown together and not tie in well. Good luck.
I had the stock bars for awhile and liked them but to far forward.. So I added 4" pullback risers and liked that better..Then put 12" apes on it and liked that for awhile..Now have 10" dragbars, 5"up and 5" pullback. Except I cut 3" out of the pullback and now their perfect. Now their a little higher and back to fit my reach from the stock bars.. I dont think I'll change for this setup... their Wild1 dragbars 1 1/4 diameter and in black, I think they look sharp with the wires running in the bars..
Just my 2cents worth...
I like the stock bars on the Superglide custom so much that I put them on my '81 Superglide
replacing the stock buck horns that I've been using since buying it new.
Like someone else commented, you must take in the overall appearance of the machine to get the full effect of the look of apes, Z's, or drags.
