Yeah, even putting the heaviest gear in the bottoms of my saddlebags, I've gently laid mine over, after stepping in a hole, when stopping on bad dirt roads (inseam challenged). Very important to keep the weight as low as possible.
Look up jackyl's set up. I'll look for his pics, but here's my set up, but I don't have a passenger. For the tour pack you'll see Jackyl has a 2-up bracket for the same type of tour pack.
1st time camping. Clothes, sleeping bag and tent.
Camping now, or over load of crap to take to work. For camping I got tent, air mattress, pump, sleeping bag, clothes, food and water. I'm sure there is a little more in there somewhere.
That eBay ad is for hardware to mount behind the passenger seat. Where do you get the hardware to mount behind the driver seat? That's an awesome setup.

This my pack for a two night trip. Tent, sleeping bag, thin air mattress, towel, clothes, flashlight, and some tools. No food, the campsite wasn't far from town.
My wife (girlfriend at the time, but wife now) and I took a 10 day camping trip on the Dyna to Sturgis from Joliet, IL a few years ago. We had detachable saddle bags, and managed to pack all the necessities for the ride to and from Sturgis. We used UPS to ship two large boxes of stuff including large tent, lawn chairs, cook stove.... to Custer State Park. When we got there, the rangers loaded the boxes into a truck and dropped them at our campsite. Having all the extra stuff made the trip really comfortable.

You have to buy the tour pack separate. I bought mine off of ebay. It's a large 2 helmet tour pack. That's how they measured it anyways.
A lot of you guys are over-packing.
I got saddlebags because I want the weight low on the bike. A waterproof duffel bag and a tank bag.
1 saddle bag for tools and small camp stuff, some dry food like peanuts, power bars and water. Everything is packed in garbage bags. Extra bags.
Other saddle bag holds 2 changes of clothes and waterproof overpants. My jacket is waterproof.
Duffel bag holds 40F sleeping bag in a compression sack, so its really small. 2 GI ponchos, one GI casualty blanket for really cold nights, a hammock and para cord. Lately I've been bringing my little 3 legged hunting stool. I just strap that to the bag on top.
Tank bag holds odds and ends like waterproof/cold gloves, glasses, extra shield for my full face and a small emergency kit.
I've been rocking this set=up for a long time and it works for me traveling solo.
Traveling with friends, makes life easier, because you only need 1 tool kit, 1 emergency kit, etc... so you can bring more crap to make the campsite more comfy.
If we plan on staying and camping in the same spot for few days, set up camp, then roll into town for food and beverages. Use garbage bags to turn saddle bags into coolers.
Hope this helps.
There's a site called MotoCampers.com with lots of info, photo's and checklists. They have a board for selling gear as well, you might find what you need there.
