Default '11 FXDC and windshield

I have about a 30 mile commute to work which about 15 miles is on the highway. What I've noticed is that the windier the day is the more squirrley this bike feels at 65 mph or above. Is it just the windshield giving me "windsteer" so to speak. Seems even a light breeze unsettles it. I'm not interested in riding at those speeds without a shield so was wondering if anybody else experiences this. On one windy day on the way home I took the very first exit after getting on the highway because I was getting blown all over the place. On a completely calm day I can cruise at 85 comfortably. Is it the shield or just the bike in general?

your windshield is mounted to your fort tubes and it catches a lot of wind, under the right conditions it will effect your steering.

I find that the wind direction relative to the direction of travel, steady vs. gusty wind and wind speed have different effects. I have an HD compact and it's a very good compromise. My steering is affected only with really strong winds (40+mph) at certain angles. I'm 5'7" on a Super Glide.

Have you tried adjusting the angle of the shield? I cut mine down a couple of inches and found that tilting it in or out makes pretty big changes in the performance of the wind buffeting. You have close to an inch of adjustment in or out.
