Default Rain Gear Suggestions?

Anybody have any advice on what to look for and where to buy some rain gear? I'd like something I can leave in the saddlebags for who knows when I might get caught.

I know this is probably an open ended question, just looking for suggestions. Anything I should look for? Or don't want with rain gear for bike riding? Is any particular design better than others?

I stopped in the HD store and looked. Looked like their bottom line gear is 175.00. Seems a little steep for something I hope to never need. Although I did get caught in the rain yesterday, which is why the thread is started.

www.froggtoggs.com has a nice set. Add some gators and 3 finger gloves from www.areastitch.com (I think) and you will be dry. I went into a down pour and got stuck at 50 MPH so the shield didn't do any good. I stayed dry as a popcorn fart.

Thanks Dean. That's closer to my price range. And they look nice.

I agree, froggtoggs are great. They don't take up much space and are pretty inexpensive.

I have both the frogg toggs and the Harley stuff and i think the harley gear is worth the price. Much better quality and fit. Big plus to the Harley gear is the pants wont burn on the pipes and in has pockets. Its a lot thicker and more durable. less prone to tears. I will keep my frogg toggs for hunting and fishing and working in the rain but not riding. The frogg toggs also have a really weird baggy fit that goes crazy in the wind. And i know what im talking about it rains about 350 day a frigging year here in Ohio.

Cabelas has a very good selection of packable gear.

I have the HD Overpass II gear. It is worth the money. I think it was $150 minus 20% (store wide sale). Sold my FroggToggs Elite Storm suit to a buddy for $20.

I hate HD stuff usually. I think their jacket, chaps, boot, gloves are junk. I bought the HD Overpass II gear after a buddy recommended them and am glad I listened. I can honestly say they did good here.

HD Hi Vis ($150) is what I have. Bike specific rain gear is worth the price of admission. Especially since it's made to not melt on the pipes.
