I bought a set of their Gran-throwover bags for my '02 FXDX and am not sure about the fitament. The bags are large and they rest on the shocks but that keeps them off of the belt guard and away from the rear brake. Is that normal / OK for throwovers ? They are secured with the supplied tie-downs from the d-rings to the passenger peg mounts in front , but I don't know where (on the bike) to attach them.
Anyone have these bags ? Or maybe similar situation ? If I get a turn signal relocation kit I can set the bags up higher on the bike . I just want to be safe since they'll be on mainly when my fiancee with me.
At the very least I suggest you get some cheap saddlebag supports to keep those bags off moving parts like the shocks, swing arm and brake caliper. When that stuff starts moving up and down over bumps it will quickly carve into nylon and plastic.
