What do the different baffle sizes do? I'm assuming that the 1.75" would be louder than say the 2". Am I correct in this assumption?
grog i thought we talked about this when i was selling mine. i also thought i sent you the 2 videos of my bike , 1 with the 1.75 baffle and 1 with the 2" baffle. the 2" baffle is a touch louder.
From: Back in the Good Ole USA. South Carolina to be exact.
I had Rush slipons w/"2 baffles. I didn't like the tone. Got rid of em and got a D&D Fat Cat which I should have done in the first place but all I read about the Rush on here was how great they sounded. Threw away my money and I thought they sounded crappy.

Pontiac, Yes I do recall when you and I chatted about the slip-ons. As I recall, you were selling slip-ons with 1.75 baffles but put up a video of 2 baffles. You indicated (at the time) you didnt think there was a difference. And I also recall that you and I agreed that the videos just dont do the sound justice, as I had listened to the Rush site videos and was convinced it was the same baffle on all three. I also fell off the wagon as some indicated (I believe you were one) if the catalyst was still in the header, that slip-ons would sound similar to stock. Well since then I came across a great deal on cycle shacks and said what the hell, and I can say, they sound much better than the stock. My only issue with them is for my taste they are somewhat smallish and Id like to get back the stock look as I'm kind of partial to stock pipes. So, Im asking on the baffles as previous discussions didnt fill the knowledge well, and Id like to keep my noise while also getting the visual I want. Picky I know, but WTF! I also tend to want knowledge on things that may really not impact me at the time, but I like to learn.
I have a set of Rush 2". Do they get louder with tme? I only have about 300 miles on them and would like them to be a little louder..........
Yes, starts sounding better at about 500 miles, but it is a slow process than continues. You may or may not notice. It reaches 112.5 dB at 2000 rpms at about 3000 miles... with FatBob no cat header pipes..

Well, I ain't pontiac, but I do have his old slip-ons on my bike right now. The 2" baffles sound mighty fine to me, even with cats in the headpipe. I have to idle in when I come home late, out of respect for the neighbors.
If you like the stock looks, you can pull the baffles from the stock mufflers and install whatever aftermarket baffles you want. If they don't fit, cut the mounting ring from the stock baffles and weld it to the replacement baffles. If you can't do it yourself, bring it to a muffler shop and have them weld it up for you, then just rivet it in place.
