I'm enjoying reading the forum and asking lots of questions right now. Buying parts so I'll have a few days of work on the bike when I get home from Iraq next week. Gonna ride first, though. The parts can wait until after.
As for an update, right now I feel like I slammed into a brick wall doing 180 MPH on a street bike with no protective gear.
I get a call back from the sales manager today, and he says to "help me out" they will give me $19K trade in for my 2011 Ultra Limited in two tone candy root beer.........
For a few seconds I stayed quiet because I was expecting him to say just kidding and come out with the real number, but alas, there was no joke to be had.
So at a stand still right now, I don't see how in their eyes a 4 month old 2011 loses $6K in value???
To say I was pissed for a while after I hung up would be an understatement, lol.

Probably lost that the minute you rode it away from the dealer. Figure the sales commissions, dealership profit, and the fact that it now has to be sold as "used", and they still have to make a profit on it again. I would have expected them to offer you even less.
It sucks, but you always lose your *** on such things if you trade in so early. Really, you lose on any trade-in. Makes me wonder what they'd sell it for as a used bike.
11Super Glide Custom and love it. Still old 96 Sporster S and the dyna isuch more stable and 6 speed trans is great. Dyna is very good ride for the money.
as for bike choice, a mate of mine rides a night rod special, another rides a fat bob, we all swap bikes every now and then on rides, the wide glide is quite stiff in the rear on the softest setting that the stock shocks from harley davidson provide.
as posted earlier, its what you choose the look or the ride. everyone here in australia has fat bobs, we go on rides and out of 12 bikes there will be 3 fat bobs, im not a fan myself but thats why i bought the wide glide,
oh yeah before i forget, if your keen on long travel and you want saddle bags, the rear turn signals will need to be relocated and on your american model the license plate will need to be moved also

They told me they would give me $19K because they need to list it at $22K to try and get $21K out of it.
Do they do a pretty good used bike business? I'm just curious, because looking at the used bikes at our local dealership (and there were some nice ones), the new bikes just seemed like the obvious choice for me.
You still thinking about trading in? It might be worth holding off until the 2012 models come out. Might get an '11 at a blowout price, or might decide to get one of the '12's with the 103 standard engine.

Yeah, I feel the same way about the stock 103's. I have my parts gathered for a 107 build. Take off heads, take off jugs, new cams, bearings, etc. Just gotta get home from the sandbox so I can start doing the work. Have yet to locate a local machine shop to bore the cylinders.
The shops in Corpus don't have web sites, and I can't call them from here. For all I know, my favorite indy shop might have lathes and mills in the back. I'll have to ask them when I get there.
