Reading alot on this site and I noticed this scenario happens quite a bit. I walked into the local shop yesterday for some parts and was just gazing at a 2011 wide glide with the flames on black paint scheme. The salesman tells me he will take my 2009 Street Bob (which, all I did to it was install pipes) and $5500 and I could walk out with it. I know its the woman in a shoe shop mantality here, but does that sound like a good swap, or should I just keep the Bob and start my customization?
Unless you just dont like your bike...Id keep what you got! 5500 would go a long ways to make it a badass headturner. Fun part for me is personalizing it to make it MY bike..the way I want it.
I was thinking the same thing. It is finally paid off and I was just going to start messing around with it. I was actually there to purchase some forwards controls, burly slammers and some black textured spray to cover that primary. I was going to have some fun until that dam salesman put some shitty thoughts in my head!!
Why trade one bike for another one of almost the exact same set up, and pay them $5500?
If you are going to trade, trade to a different class, but I see no point in going from a 2009 Dyna to a 2011 Dyna.
After sleeping on it, i was thinking the same thing. I am getting caught up in the moment. Seeing that full blacked out primary & engine, I get stupid!
That's a lot of cash to just go sideways on a bike. $1,000 will buy you the best suspension, $4,000 will buy you around or over 110/110 HP/TQ and the other $500 will get you an AIM VP clutch and SE compensator to handle the added power.
If you don't want handling or power, that $5,500 will buy you an entire shop outfitted with all the hand and air tools you will ever need, a tig welder, lift and so much more. If you buy right, you might be able to throw in a new paint job, or just buy some flame graphics for under $100 to give you the look.
and what would be stopping you doing the same thing with that ride in a year or two, make the one you have your own let it get old love it for what it is not what it isn't I plan on handing my ride down when i buy a new one, so I will be riding it until then I will not be handing it down for at least another 6 years yet, maybe 8,
