If you're new to torque wrenches do yourself a favor and PRACTICE using your new wrench first so you get the feel for the 'click' or break when the set torque is reached. Just drop a bolt in a vice, set your wrench to a few inch pounds (or foot pounds), and torque on the bolt head until your wrench reacts. Better to practice on an old bolt than on a new derby cover screw.

Sometimes torque specs can be deceiving too... I have had situations where I feel the bolt starting to "yield" before the wrench clicked. Experience an d practice helps...

If you can tighten it down far enough that it doesn't leak, while not tightening it enough to strip the heads...no.

Would you be upset if they fell out?

Just about every fastener on a HD needs at least blue locktite, the heating and the cooling of the motor and the viberation will loosen them in no time. And do yourself a favor and get the torque wrench or the money you save on not getting one will be spent on a tap and die set.

I been wrenching for 35 years and I only use torque wrenches on head bolts or motor parts that need a high torque setting. Itty-bitty screws and stuff don't need a torque wrench, just common sense....if you don't have any of this you should stay away from wrenching.....you can't buy it from NAPA ;-)
