Actually.... I screwed up. No a mechanic, I just play one in my garage. I meant 3/8". Don't know why I wrote 3/4. My bad. I have a 1/2 as well. But I think unless you're taking wheels off and stuff like that.

Again...just a shade tree view.

It's way to easy to over-tighten without one... leading to stripped threads and other unpleasant headaches. I'd say yes, you need one or maybe two. I picked up two at Harbor Freight Tools... a smaller one with a range in inch-pounds... and a regular sized one that covers something like 5-80 foot-pounds... both for under $20 each. I wouldn't wrench without them.
