When do you shift!

I shift by feel. The 6th gear seems to be a bit tricky though. If I'm at 65+ mph cruising I typically have it in 6. Thing of it is at 60-65 I get mid to upper 40's on mpg. 65 and up in 6th the mpg drops. I'd think the mpg would improve.

A lot of people complaining about the Harley shift "clunk" hear it the most & loudest when shifting too early. For me, the rigid 10 MPH increments prescribed in the manual is too early. As everyone said, listen and feel for it.

I put on a aftermarket handlebar tach on my 07 low-rider. When do I shift, I don't use to speedometer at all. Keep your RPM's in the 2500K range. Lower than that, your lugging lugging = bad. very seldom use 6th gear unless I'm going 70+mph. This wknd, was on an interstate for about an hr. I actuall got 50MPG. Usually get 35-40 around town though.
