Some speak of Dynas as if they are 880 Sportsters and one is certain to upgrade as they age but I like my Fat Bob better than any other HD model available and my second favorite is the Wide Glide.
I was in the same boat a while ago. I test drove a few baggers and I wanted one but I just couldn't see dropping that kind of money for the bike. I've had maybe 12 bikes in my lifetime but I've never bought a new one, to me they are just toys that loose alot of money in depreciation. I went and bought some factory detachable saddle bags and got a Mustang seat with a backrest. I no longer lust for a new bike and all for the price of about 3 payments on a new one.
Junior, you Custom really looks great. I really like those bags, look great, fit nice. Aren't those some sort of special issue bags with the HD 1 logo on them. Seems I have seen them around and they are a little expensive, even for HD.

But they do look great.
Thanks, they were on the bike when I bought it so not sure on the price. I think your right about the special offering, because I haven't seen them for sale. Best thing about these bikes, like the OP is doing, just add a few new things and you have a new ride for way less than new.
In the past, every time I visited a HD dealer I was always checking out all the other models. Just sitting on them in the showrooms none of them felt or fit me as well as my FXDC.
I am done looking, going to keep my Dyna and dress it out. I just installed new grips and the taillight/brake light kit.
In the last couple of days I have ordered a few more goodies.
HD Engine Guard
Kuryacyn Large Highway Pegs
Rear Turn signal relocation kit
Saddlemen hard mount tear drop bags
They are all supposed to be here next week. I will be a little busy for a few days getting everything installed on the bike.
Told my wife what I had ordered and why and she was elated to hear I had gotten the bug to spend big bucks to trade up out of my mind and doesn’t care what I spend on my current bike.
Woooopeeee!
All is well she is happy and I love my Dyna.
YOU, are a smart man. Your Dyna will tour with anybody, and you just saved thousands, and thousands of dollars.
My first Harley was a Dyna, because I wanted a bike I could hoon around on.
After a while I had my head turned by a Rocket III but that only lasted 6 months because I was missing a Harley.
Went for a Road King because I always liked them but found that the RK turned me into an old man over night, was too cramped for my legs and strangely has less room on board for me and the missus.
Swapped the RK for my current SB and have just about got it exactly like my last Dyna. Lesson learned, doubt I will ever sell the bob.
Maybe a Street Glide next it in the garage though one day....lol
Well the parts all came and I finally got them all installed.
What do you think? Does she look like a "keeper"?
Nice thing about it is it is almost a convertible now. In just a few minutes I can pull the bags, change the seat, add the sissy bar and passenger pad, QD windshield or any combination and have a completely different look.
I used the Edge mount with the Saddlemen bags. Install was easy and everything fit perfect. The Edge mount is a quality piece of gear.
The only problem I have with it is, because I have the QD sissy bar mount the Edge mount positions the bags farther from the frame than I would have liked.
But for the convenience of installation and removal I will live with it.
