I'm still undecided on what set up to go with but am thinking about getting the arlen ness. If I buy the round set up and use my stock teardrop can I later change the front to a round cover and have the open filter? (performance now, better looks later) For you that use the round open filter do you get a little more knee room? I don't do rain so that isn't a concern. Wheres the best place to buy the arlen ness?
Hey pontiac, thanks for the PM. I still may use that....Checking my options...
Yes, if you use the AN or SE kit you can use the stock cover now and change it to whatever you like later on - I put a Blackline cover on mine, covers the whole filter with no cutout, it even looks "stock" sorta.
I don't know it gave any more (been a while) but I don't think it is any less either. I couldn't find one used and didn't want to pay retail so I poked around the ST forum till I found a post with something who removed thiers and sent them a PM - got one for $50.
You'll need the extra thick gasket (rubber damper really) to space it out and an appropriately sized spacer so you don't deform it when you tighten it, the stock screw will be too short but the ones you get in the chrome brake disc hardware kit are just right.
