i have a 2007 street bob i went to change the handle bars and i miss labled the wiring on the right side. everything i look at says it has 6 wires on the right and 8 on the left. this is not the case with my bike. the side with the horn sw is 6 wires and side with start sw has 8 wires. the big problem is the wire color is diffrent going from the 8 wire to 8 wire and the 6 wire to 6 wire ....the 6 to 6 is wired correct ....i am a aircraft electrition so i know what im doing if given the correct wiring diag
So what is it that is not working? The wiring colors have not really changed in many years.
There are actually only six wires on each side at the connector, on the right (start) side you have wires that are split out in the control for ACC power and Start switch. If you have 8 wires at the connector down at the neck, someone has changed the wiring.
I have an 07 LR and I own the service manual. What is that you actually need. I know you have changed your bars, did you cut the wires? or did you remove the pins from the connector block and you need the pin outs. I am at work right now and I could look something up for you when I get home.....
all i did was change the bars and ran the wires inside the bars to do this i had to depin the cannon plug. i didnt copy the cannon plug lable correctly when i took the pins out. everything is stock and i bought the bike new. the dealer gave me the diag but it shows 8 wires on the left side and 6 on the right. my bike has 8 on the right and 6 on the left. i never removed the wires from the switches so my run/stop is still on the right side and the horn is still on the left. the problem is only my right side. when i go to try to put the pins back in i have no idea where they go in the connector and the main harness is diffrent color wires so i cant just match wire for wire by color.
Well, if your wires are not the standard colors I am afraid you will have to use a VOM and check them all to see what they do. You may have to open the control so you can see where each wire is connected if using the VOM does not help.
