I went to the harley site to compare the switch back to the road king. The king weighs 100 lbs more and sits just an inch higher carries an extra gallon of gas has an oil cooler and HAS CRUISE CONTROL! just 1800 bucks more if you're going to spend the money on a harley touring bike buy a touring bike. like my old man used to say before he left this shitty world "Boy, you can nail apples to a telephone pole but that doesn't make it an apple tree." i can't believe i read this stupid floor board on a dyna thread
$1800 for basically cruise, I used to buy new Harleys for that.
Well I found a kit that uses the Harley controls for cruise for my softail for $1k. It's a different bike though. Have you ever dropped the bags on a RK? Doesn't look too sexy (in most cases) But some people buy a hooked up Sporty for what they could have paid for a dyna....to each their own.
To add on to that...the RK costs about $300 more than a Heritage...look how many people go the way of the Heritage
I may have already said this, but I quite like the FLD. Its still a rip though. Sweet bike and I'm glad they built it. 'Just that Harley charges more because they can is what pisses me off. As much as I like it, I wouldn't buy it over a Road King for the $1500 - $1800 difference.

But you probably don't mind the height/weight difference. Maybe prefer that style...others may not. I know many people that would opt against the extra weight...especially if it's a DD but has the qualities of a tourer minus cc...which could be added aftermarket if it were that important to them.

Well Bub, I didn't buy mine because of the floorboards, (i still have my mids from my bob, and may want to swap them to someone for some forwards). I did buy it because of the bags and shield, and the 103, cause if i wanted a tour bike, yeah i'da bought a tour bike, it's pretty lively on the hills and twisties in 3rd and 4th, it'll cut and run, with the best of em, and that remark about 1800 difference, for a bloated tour bike? really? Some folks that amounts a deal breaker And not be jabbin at ya, But the cruise control on a bike? If I had to have cruise, i'd just go head get on the back.. bet it'll do a great burnout..peace..

I figured if you were gunna pay three grand extra for bags and a windshield and 7 ft-lbs of torque you didn't mind another 1800. Don't knock cruise it gives me both hands free to read a book on a long ride. Finished the sun also rises on our last ride ha ha ha
