Default Which Apes for a Wide Glide?

I recently had a not so fun day at the gas station and ended up with some bent handlebars, a dinged up mirror, and dinged up controls on the clutch side, along with some other scrapes and dings on the bike. Hopefully at some point I'll get a settlement from the gas station.

I was thinking of taking the settlement money whenever I receive it and putting it towards a set of taller apes than the stock mini-apes currently on the bike. I'm torn on whether to go narrow or wide and how tall to go. I'm currently thinking 16" rise, since I'm 6'2", but 14" might work, too. I like the look of both the narrow and the wide apes and can't decide which one I like better.

Any difference in handling characteristics / comfort between going wide or narrow?

If you've got 'em, please post pics of apes on a 99-05 WG along with the brand and rise.

I didnt place a vote but heres my op...
I like my stock apes, nice and fat.
But I plan on goin with 14 or 16's soon. My thought on width is they look best when they are at lease as wide as the trees on the lower end, and anything in the mid 30's at the grips is comfortable.
jmo.

LA chopper 16 inch apes that r 1 1/4 necked down ( the full 1 1/4 are narrower and have to much pullback. around 40 inches wide and keep your wrists fairly straight. wide = comfortable. at your height you need at least 16

I would say road 6 customs 16" but I am a little biased since mine just came in yesterday. Hopefully they go on this weekend.

If you end up going for some mini apes I will give you a deal on the ones coming off my 2010 street bob

Thanks for your inputs guys! I recently picked up a set of 16" Wild 1 Chubby's WIDE apes for my WIDE glide from a fellow forum member. They have never been installed and I bought them for about half price. Now I need to piece together the rest of the stuff I need to install the bars and move the turn signals. Can't wait to put them on!

I went with 15's. Couldn't deciede on 14 or 16 so I picked the middle ground. I ran both wide and narrow apes. I like the narrower than super wide...BUT.....not narrow, just narrower than some of the monsters out there. 32-34 wide works for me. So wheres the pictures???

I have a 2011 that I'm looking to put some apes on. After looking at tons of pics, I think that apes between 10" and 14" look the best. I'll be putting some black Todds Cycles stripper bars on mine.
