Here in our town, the local City decided to inact a City Ordanance that states any modified exhuast that makes the vehicle louder is not acceptable, irregardless of the 50 state legal....... So anyways, good luck and hopefully we can vote out the council member who started this law, he dislikes the rebels who ride Harleys.......
I still don't know which of the three cities comprising T-Town that you refer to, but if it's K-town, then I know the mayor, who's very approachable, super friendly and pretty much in favor of saving our freedoms. He can cast the deciding vote, if needed.
I have just done a stage 1 on my wideglide - it now has Rush slip-ons with 1.75 inch baffles. It makes the bike loud enough to sound real but I am not expecting trouble with the boys in blue.
The sun has come out for the first time since fitting the new bits so today's the day for some pictures.
You can download a free sound meter app for most smartphones to give you a dB reading, my custom pipes I built run 86dB at idle which was a couple dB quieter than my Big Radius 2-2's. I could easily pull my baffle and put a little wrap on it to lower it more.. Anxious to hear what my newest build sound like, hopefully this weekend.
Where do you hold the phone/mic when measuring? Where do you get the loudest reading? Where do the authorities measure these things?

I was standing 10' directly behind the pipe for the 86 dB, that was what I heard was the distance for one particular legal test, this could be different in different places.
I am putting my new pipes on today and am going to do a little experiment with baffle placement to see what if any difference it makes.
Going to lay the meter on the ground right below and behind the pipe and slide the baffle in with a ruler and see if it changes with depth.
