Ditto to Hemi's exp.
I also have Ricor's Super Sport set up and it is a ton better than stock. If you want a lowered stance and you don't care for the extra ride height and comfort that the SS set up buys you they make several different lengths that are lower.
I believe my original shocks from my FXDXT were 13.5". I found them a little high for my 5'10" frame. But they were great handling shocks. I went down to 11" for the cool lowdown look for 2 years and loved it until I rubbed my rear wiring harness off!!! lol! Live and learn if you go too low! I'm now at 12.5" and pretty happy with that height. The better the shock the better the ride in my opinion. Look forward to hearing about your test ride!
YNOTS thanks for the information on the stock shocks. Just about what I had thought but had no information. Seems like longer shocks with progressive rate springs would be a huge imporvement. Have read lots of good reviews and some that weren't that good about the Progressive 412s. Progressive does have a good web site and you can compare spring rates etc. Good to know about the K of 100 lb/in on the OEMs. Guess they are linear as well. Great to hear from all the members experience - its really helpful while researching these suckers.
Any suggestions on how to improve the front suspension as well. I have a 09' FXDL and would like to improve handling.
Check into the Ricor Intiminators. They are a drop in piece that goes beneath the springs. You just pull the spacers and springs, suck out the old fork oil, put in their suggested Amsoil, trim 5/8" from the spacer and drop everything back in.
The Intiminators are designed to work with your factory springs and they do a great job of fixing the front suspension
