Default throw over bags

I'm wanting to get rid of my hd hard bags and buy some throwovers. Has anyone ever mounted them to their strut and do away with the middle part? I am going to buy 150 bags nothing fancy or real leather. I ride 2up 85 % so I'm not worried about taking them off.

These are a set of Jafrum throw overs that I cut the yokes off and hard mounted. I actually gave them to a forum member a couple months ago because I thought they were just too big for my Low Rider. I used my old throw over mounts to keep them away from the bikes moving parts and some threaded rod to hang them threw the stock strut holes. To really do it right you have to reinforce throw overs or they will sag into a blob in a matter of months.

I was thinking if I put a piece of metal on the inside of the bag that would keep them from sagging.

I have a set of the Saddleman bags that are tear drop shaped just sitting in my garage. They are used and the right one was burned on the bottom from the exhaust but it didn't burn all the way through. They are also pretty water proof. If you are interested in them contact me via pm and maybe we can work something out.

That would work fine. I used diamond plate, but plastic or even wood sheet would do the trick. You just need something since cheap throw overs tend to be thinner leather than say Leather Pro's or some other high end bolt ons. I have seen plenty of people cut the yokes off throw overs and reinforce them just so they could use easy brackets to mount them. That works like a charm.

My buddy said I could buy a metal ring that goes in the hole to make it stronger. With that and a piece of metal on the inside I hope they won't sag
