Maybe they should just outlaw GPS and AM/FM radios, CD's or bluetooth headsets or CB radios from the Ultra's too. :-o
Sure. All that stuff is just fluff and distraction.
If you commute, or more importantly, use your car (or bike) for customer appointments in any large metro area, GPS is invaluable. You don't have to stare at it for minutes on end, but then, some people can't dance on the head of a pin... and some shouldn't be on the road at all.
.
I've done better. I've commuted through back country roads where there is no signage whatsoever and still made it to my destination without being late, without the use of GPS.
People have driven cross country for decades without GPS. Why is it so drastically important now? Because it's available?
I realize there are enough distractions on the road when riding a motorcycle and I don't necessarily agree we need to add more distractions while riding. Does that make me an ****? So be it.
The concerned citizen... nice touch.
Lets cut the crap. This thread wasn't about the usefulness of GPS. Some guy had a suggestion on accessories. It's about that simple. But these threads always go down hill when the comments start coming from the peanut gallery.
No, you're not an ****. But I will say that playing the distraction card as a way to legitimize your problem with using GPS devices is lame and misleading.
Glancing at a GPS takes less concentration than having a conversation with the wife on back of your scoot; less than a lot of stuff and certainly less than text messaging or making a phone call.
lol look at your last post. "drastically important"....... See what I mean? This is really getting funny now.

WOW! You went through a lot of work to collect my various thoughts on GPS.
Vic...........There's no sense in arguing with people who have a touch of OAD
Yes OAD is as bad as those who have substance use and abuse disorders. Cell phones and other electronic devices fall under the DSM-IV-TR as diagnostically prevalent in our current societal settings. They can not, or will not live without them, this disorder is known throughout the therapeutic community as "CrackBerry" for the slang of it.
And now we have people propagating its use on the highways while riding motorcycles, bad enough it's in use while driving automobiles.
