Greetings to those of you that are intrested in "Boards on a Dyna,

Sorry it's taken so long to get back on this post.
Here's what's going on: A little history first. I'm riding a flame red pearl '06 Superglide with HD QD leather bags, HD QD windshield and HD passing lignts.
Sooo here we go, So far I've recieved and installed the following: the brackets and boards delivery were spread out over about 3-4 weeks. I'm still waiting on the brake lever.
Yes the shift levers and linkage from HD forward controls will work. They are the same part No. as the '12 FLD parts book. Yes the brake pivot shaft will work. (Same P.N.) The brake lever for HD Fwd control will work But you have to modify it. It must Be notched for cleaeance on the R/H Fwd bracket. It will work in a pinch but it looks out of place and is kind of in the way.

This is what I did for temporary, loosely mount the brake lever after installing the bracket and mark it with a magic marker and remove it. I used a Dremal tool With a re-enforced cut-off wheel and started cutting out small pie shaped wedges a little at a time until I could apply the rear brake without the lever making contact with the bracket.

Depending what exhaust you have, you may have to cut away a small slot on your #1 exhaust heat shield. This is what I did with Vance & Hines Big Shots. Hang the R/H Aft bracket loosely by the rear mount bolt. Swing it up to touch the heat shield and mark the shield. Again with the Dremal and a rotary file swing the bracket down out of the way slowly start cutting away the shield until you get clearance for the beacket to be placed with both mount bolts installed. Note: Allow an extra !/8th to 3/16ths of an inch to allow for engine vibration. A little tape over the work area of the shield is a good thing. And at the upper end of the cut out area, radius about the size of a pencil eracer. This will help to prevent a crack later down the line.

Here's some additional P.N.'s you'll need.

38160-12 CAP, brake lever
4997 SCREW
38157-12 BRAKE LEVER ASSY $ 110.00
7354 LOCKNUT (4 Ea.)
50674-05 BOLT, shoulder (4 Ea.)
42416-06 PAD, brake pedal
4512A SCREW (4 Ea.)

Sorry, No Pics Yet, Will post them when I get the Correct Brake lever on.

Best wishes Tim.
P.S. I opted out for the black foot boards from the '12 custom book P.N. 51322-08 for $ 80.00 with-out pads and my parts guy gave me a set of "take off" standard pads. Looks good. I'm not much on chrome.

Should have gone with these more than half the price less , they bolt to your mid peg stock hardware and they move back and forth and also pivot up and down ( the Harleys ones don't ) the shifter and brake levers are perfect where they are no need to move them forward , the boards themselves are very comfortable too !

Some of us want parts that are actually made for the bike we put them on and not a fit everything part.

I have stock mid controls on my '08 FXDC, do I need to buy a complete set of forwards in addition to the parts listed above?

I am using similar floorboards. They are extremely comfortable because of the adjustability but are not as strong due to the single mount. I have to admit, they are stronger than they look but they are starting to wear out and wiggle (one year old). I am going to a Softail setup because I want to move my brake master cyclinder up front due to some exhaust changes I am planning.

I can't tell from the your pic. Are you still running the mid controls or did you install forwards. I've only heard good things about this product - looks like an easy mod when you want to try out floor boards.
Thanks,
George

Cool

using switchback boards and mounts will lead into exhaust clearance issues on the right side.
a one piece fl heel toe shifter will not work it hits the boards.
there was a dyna cop bike called the defender. it came with boards and a one piece heel toe shifter part number 33706-01
I ordered it we will see if it worx.
