Default Help with my Fat Cat install

Finally getting around to installing a Fat Cat on the Fat Bob. I pulled the stock exhaust off but now I'm trying to see how the gaskets that came with the D&D fit into the head. They barely fit into the lip of the head but won't fit over the pipe so I'm wondering if D&D sent the wrong gaskets. I bought the pipe used and then purchased the bolt kit & gaskets from D&D with a quite baffle.

and I don't see that there was a gasket inside of the head after pulling off the stock pipe.

It's be nice if I can get it done while Irene is dropping buckets of rain outside. (sorry for the big pics...)

The gasket goes inside the exhasut port not around the pipe. You can see the old one all smashed up in the exhasut port in the pic.

yea, that was the first thing I tried. It the gasket fits on the lip of the port but if I do that, I can't get the pipe inside because it won't fit over the pipe.

Take a little screwdriver and dig the old gasket out of the head 1st. then stick the new one in the head. Then you pipe is ready to install. it will mash down when you tighten the exhaust flange nuts.

It's not supposed to fit OVER the pipe, only seal it from exhaust leaks.........

Just like Dr. V-Twin suggested.........

Your gasket is still in there. I didn't use the D&D gaskets, seemed like the Screamin Eagle fiber ones would conform and seal better then the metal D&D gaskets. I also modified the D&D standard baffle into a quiet baffle.

Screamin' Eagle® Performance Exhaust Gasket Kit

The exhaust gasket is a flat-woven stainless steel design that does not compress into the exhaust port, improving flow out of the head into the exhaust header pipe.

Fits Evolution® 1340-equipped models, XL, XR models, and '99-later Twin Cam equipped models (except Trike). (pair) MSRP US $7.95

Thanks fellas, I was able to dig the stock gaskets out and get the pipe on. Wow what a difference! Can't believe that D&D calls this their "quiet" baffle. This pipe kicks donkey!
