Had and have the same thing. New 2008 Lowrider leaked from day one both sides never went away, replaced under warranty, no more leak. New 2010 FXDC leaked from day one both sides, 4000 mi. later still leaks, taking it in to be fixed under warranty.

They must have forgot the oil in the other side?. Just kidding. They will ring like that. I am more curious why the other is not doing it. I bet it will get less and less over a few months but never completely go away. It's a wiper seal but just like the seals on the wheel bearings you are going to see wicking. The rubber seal needs lubrication and that's what makes it work and last. If you had the ring and a run track coming down from it, that's leaking. Wipe it off with a clean paper towel damp with windex. That will make the seal seat in faster since the upper will no film for the first few rebounds.

Thanks for the feedback guys! There doesn't appear to be any oil running down the tube, just the ring. I'll watch over the next 1000 miles or so and hopefully it will go away.

My '11 FXDB had the same problem except the oil would run down the tube and even splattered the gas tank. Didn't have a chance to get it to the dealer before the bike was totaled though. Only 1 side (left) did it. Other side was clean.
