My bike is an 06 Street Bob, there has always been a little play in my thottle which I like, but as I was riding today the throttle became very loose. When I got home I attempted to adjust the throttle just by turning the screw on the "L" part of the throttle. I get to the point where the entire bolt comes off before it gets a little tighter. Any ideas on how to fix the issue?

Not sure what you are adjusting there, the usual adjustment is the two chrome adjusters near the top of the cables and in-line with them. Needs a couple of small spanners.
I'd be a tad concerned though if something has changed so much that it feels very different than before, doesn't sound like something you want to be just adjusting out. The return cable hasn't snapped has it?
Just got done messing with the cable and I just shook it around a bit and adjusted the throttle adjusters and it feels great. Just don't want it to get loose while riding again. The cable has not snapped I made sure it was still hooked up to the throttle body and that part still works once turned.
