man i can`t believe you guys are only getting 7000 miles and less, i have a 05 wideglide that i ride hard but no burnouts, and i have 10,000 miles and i bet i have another 5or 6 thou left, on the front it looks even better, obviously i think highly of the dunlop, i do check air pressure weekly and adjust accordingly
I know it seems odd, but my tire was past normal wear limits at 6500 miles, on my 06. The front tire looks like it may make 20K+.
I have always maintained the air pressure front/rear, as I think the others did, also.
Never did any burnouts, etc., although I don't drive slow.
Hoping to get 10-12k out of my Metzeler ME-880.
I got 12,500 on the first tire. This one now has 10,500. Have a friend with a Deuce that can't seem to get over 7,000 and he's no hot shoe.I dunno.Bty,I run around 35 pounds in it.
I'm pretty easy on my tire and only got 7,700 miles out of mine. If you ride hard it wears fast. If you go with a better performance tire it will probably wear just as fast because the compound is softer. I went with a dunlop d205, 160 70 17 which is a crotch rocket touring tire. It's z rated and a radial, and made a HUGE difference around corners, and only cost $107 mounted and balanced at the crotch rocket shop.
But is there a radial front tire in 19" to match it???
I'm wondering how many of you that are getting good mileage out of the stocker, downshift? I know we were told at the MSF course that if you downshift it will wear the life of the rear tire by like 50-60%, correct me if I'm wrong on that #. Tim

Yes they do, they have a D205 in the right size for the front to match. I still have the stock tire on the front but will replace it next time i replace the back, so that they match.
I would probably also state that the number 1 reason for my fast tire wear is my downshifting. I have just done it for so long that its a hard habit to break. Im sure I could get quite a bit more mileage if I just used the brakes without down shifting. I am not positive but I would bet thats also the reason why most on here wear their tires out at around 7k or so.
I got 13,000 miles out of my Dunlop wide glide tires. Probably could have gone another 1,000 miles. Just changed both front and rear at Bikertoberfest to Metzler ME880. I have to say, "What a difference!" Better ride and better handling. I live in South Florida where everyone says the roads are hard on tires.
