Wrong! As stated above read the manual.
If you need the manual to tell you when to shift, whatever, it's your bike, go ahead and destroy it. I believe the manual shows those as MINIMUM shift points, enter the real world. 2200 is too low for cruising as far as I am concerned, but like I said, it's your bike.

No, I don't need the manual to tell me when to shift and it does not state minimum shift points. That is what my ear told me and it appears to be correct unless you know more than Harley Davidson, which you appear to. Like you said "whatever, it's your bike do what you want". Now if you are shifting later just because you like the sound fine I understand that but respectfully, posting incorrect unsubstantiated information doesn't help people who would like to know what is recommended.

Craig, Keep in mind that those shift points are on a factory bike, not a stage one. If your on flat ground and you downshift before having to accelerate, you'll probably be fine. The mechanics at the harley dealer couldn't stress to me enough not to lug the engine. Harleys are made to come alive at the higher RPM's

No argument from me on that Dino. I don't have a stage one and can't comment on that. Harley Davidson does make the point in the manual not to lug the motor and that goes for any motor. BTW thanks again for your info on the Xied's. I love them.

Hey Craig,
I thought u did pipes and intake already. If you didn't then I think your shifting it fine...It stretches out with pipes and intake.

Glad you are enjoying the XEID's, that was the best choice for a first mod on a budget. It was worth 100 bucks just to cool down that motor, huh?

I just did the SE Slipons no intake. Yes, I think it was a well spent $100.

May be a random question but a lot of posts here say to take the xieds off before going to dealer. If you have big sucker or a stage 1 upgraded air cleaner, won't that bring up more concerns by the service guys?

Like others have said on here the MoCo would have to prove those upgrades caused the problem. I ran the bike by the local dealer the other day and loved the mods I had done. Asked me what tuner I was running and told them I was only running the xied's. Wanted to suggest I put a SERT on it

have a 2012 egc...3,000 rpms is an indicated 80 mph(yes, i realize that harley speedos read faster than true speed) in high gear. the bike has the xieds and the cat is gutted. the bike loves to run at this speed...quick throttle response to pass and still good gas mileage. shift into 6th at 65-70. i feel the engine would be better off running 70 all day in 5th gear than it would be to ride all day at 60 in 6th gear. JMO.
