I just traded in my sporty on a 07 wide glide that had after market exhaust on it with baffles.
I remove the baffles in it and need to know if i need to have a little restriction on the exhaust or not.
I did all the wrenching on my old bike but am new to the dyna family as well as the fuel injection type motor.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
phidoux
I believe he is saying that he removed the baffles. You do need some back pressure for Best performance. I added lollipops into my drag pipes the other day because I wanted to take some bite out of the exhaust tone and add some back pressure. I used a stainless 1/4" eye bolt? I first tried it sandwiched between two washers to make it a solid disc. It quieted down quite a bit, but I felt it did not pull as hard. It may have been too restrictive. I then turned them 90 degrees so it will just split the flow and it performed a lot better. It actually still muffled the noise a little too. I may try the eyebolts without the washers perpendicular to the pipe and see how that does. As it is know, I can also change the angle by turning them to change the flow and sound. It is an easy fix unTil I can get a good 2-1 pipe.
lollipops are basically what BCT baffles are and they are some of the best money I ever spent on my bike. And yes, that little bit of back pressure made all the difference as I could not help but test my bike with the baffles out
Post pics! Running V&H quiet baffles in my V&H slip on's... sounds great and performs nicely. Also have SEPST and Arlen Ness Big Sucker to complete the stage 1. I didn't test without the baffles, but I've read many times you'll get better performance with some back pressure.
