Smile No start and clutch ?

Hi, I have a 2008 fat bob with 4500 miles on it. It was working fine until the last ride. I parked in the garage and wanted to go for a ride about 8 days later and the lights come on, battery is good, does not want to start or even click. The tranny was in nuetral, and I even tried it in gear, no start. I pulled in the clutch cable to push it back in the garage in 1st gear and it won't free wheel. It seems like there is something wrong with the clutch system not letting the bike free wheel. Is this why it won't start. Please give me some idea as to what I can do or look for to correct this.
Thanks Pat

How easy does the clutch cable move?
Is it broken (the clutch cable)?
If you manually put the bike in natural does the bike start?
Is the on/off switch turned in the off position?

Just because light comes on doesn't mean battery has enough juice to start. anything less than 11.9 volts you cant activate starter with ignition. always put it in neutral, pull in clutch handle before starting

Have you tried to push start it. Maybe if you get it running it will work out the bug that seemed to crawl in. Good luck finding the issue

from patyak: "I pulled in the clutch cable to push it back in the garage in 1st gear and it won't free wheel. It seems like there is something wrong with the clutch system not letting the bike free wheel"

Welcome aboard.

Re your clutch: my experience has been that when the bike hasn't been used for several days (in your case 8 days), particularly in colder weather, the clutch pack sorta "locks up" and doesn't readily release when you pull in the clutch. If you really need to roll it in/out/around the garage you should put the tranny in neutral first.

And as others have said, your three year old batt may not be up to the task of turning the motor over. Need to check it out with a volt meter or load tester and check to see if it can still hold a full charge. Hope you get it worked out.

My old 68 triumph would lock up the clutches in the cold and I would have to raise the rear wheel so it could spin to start, then once warmed up it was fine.

Thank you to you guys for trying to help me out, all that was wrong is the battery in the key fob, I put in a new one and away it went. Glad it was nothing serious.

Those key fob batteries are underrated. Having one go south on you is very disabling, had it happen to me and the trouble it caused was worse than what you experienced. My car, truck and garage door fob batteries last seemingly forever, so I never expected my problem to be fob related.

Just make replacing those inexpensive batteries part of your spring ritual, no sense having that happen again. I learned my lesson.
