Default Clutch engages when starting

Recently purchased a 2010 Ultra Classic and when I hit the start button with the bike in gear and the clutch lever pulled all the way in, attempts to lunge forward slightly. Is this in any way normal or do I need to adjust the cable, etc...?

Sounds like the clutch cable needs to be adjusted.

Maybe try pulling the clutch lever and release once before starting. I think I read once that's just the clutch plates sticking at start up. It's worth a try.

My 14 Fat Bob does the same thing, adjusting the clutch or cable does nothing, it's normal.

Start in neutral...I think the manual even states same. It's not so bad when starting in gear when the motor is warm.

as someone else said , usually caused by the clutch plates draining off after sitting a while , not unusual to happen, clutch adjustment may take care of it if you set it to be a bit "loose"
