Default Front Turn Signal Relocation

Just ordered the Parts Unlimited Turn Signal Fork Clamp-49mm for my FXDC from Dennis Kirk (Part #: 213963). Was wondering if anybody used this setup before and what they thought of it? Was it a pretty straight forward install? Need any additional parts? Thanks

Michael -

Brackets are always a good easy way to go, and there are lots of options (most of which are cheaper and better looking than the ones from The Motor Company).

Personally, I've been looking for a really clean front signal relocation scheme for a while. I don't have a lift yet so I hesitate to try a fork wraparound that requires dis-assembling the forks (yet), otherwise I would have gone for joker's fork mount (http://www.jokermachine.com/itemstre...&Placeholder=0)

I don't like most of the relocation brackets (the brackets are clunky and they tend to only come in chrome), and I prefer turns that are as minimal as possible (bigger objects don't make the signals more visible; I *hate* the stock signals on my street bob).

I just ran across the custom dynamics 'TruWRAPZ' , though, which I think is a great solution:

http://www.customdynamics.com/trufle...D_Turn_Signals

Basically, a wrap-around-stick-on LED band that can be mounted on the forks anywhere.

What I like about these is that they're so minimalist that they don't look like turn signals at all 'til they light up.

I'm reasonably sure I'll replace these later when I get time and space to pull the front end apart, but I think the wrap solution is a great way to go (caveat, I have not installed them yet but I'll post pix as soon as I get 'em on - which will be soon because I've already pulled the stock k turns off and have wires hanging out of my ride).

Why would you need to dis assemble your forks to relocate your turn signals?

The signals i linked to above, from Joker Machine, are built into one-piece brackets that go around the forks.

I love Joker's stuff, BTW. I have quite a number of their parts on my cafe racer , and all of it's absolutely beautiful. They're not cheap but they're highly recommended all the same.

In the pic it looks like there is a split, like a clam shell for installation. Seems kinda dumb if you had to pull the forks apart just to install these if that is what is needed. I was thinking of this same mod. But all the ones i saw open up to install on the forks.

What about my mod? Click here
A much cleaner look, I don't like fork clamps.

What you want is a set of these, no wires, no brackets and most don't even notice them if they aren't on.

You don't have to dissasemble the intire forks, just take the front tire and fender off then loosen your triple trees and slid em down to slide you signal bracket over the top. It's pretty easy and you just need a scisor jack to get the front end up.

I personally relocated mine to a box on the extra parts shelf in the garage.

Ie used those brackets and i think they are POS!!! If you get them watch out for the screws bc if you over tighten them they will go right though the weak plastic like chrome clamps ...

I had them and took them off and got the offset mounts which mount on the screw that tightens the lower tree ... they look great and are small - check it out
