So with looking to do some personalize touches to my bike, I'm curious if anyone with a similar paint job has done some contrasting with black.
2012 FXDC. Ember red sunglo/merlot sunglo. On mobile so best to consult my gallery for pics.
With looking at exhaust options I was thinking of going with black pipes to add some contrast. Then thought about taking it a little further. Planning a lay down plate/signal relocate and was thinking of going to black plates, a small black sissy for baggage options. Possibly redoing the dash a gloss black and maybe the lower forks as well. Black progressives too. Basically adding black to contrast the chrome till I hit a good break point.
My only apprehension is I'm afraid of what all that black would do to the sunglo merlot. Currently in shade or from a distance the bike looks black and red. Catches some sun and gets a real shine to it, almost gold. Looks beautiful as is. I'm afraid if I add black it will expose the merlot as a purple and make it look like a different bike, softening the paint contrast too much.
Has anyone seen it done or have pics of something similar? Played with the bike builder on the site but their version of the paint job on there really lightens up the merlot to emphasize the sunglo.
Yeah I know chrome would work with it as is. Was just kinda curious if anyone had seen one with this scheme going a little more black.
To me if I just chrome out everything I am afraid of overpowering the paint as a whole. And I think the black could mute certain features like if I add the small sissy.
Agree on the smoked lenses though, deffinatley on the list. Debating doing the big $ black led headlamp. Want something brighter at night and with the black housing I think it would look good.
Leave the chrome as is but black the fork tubes and the triple clamps, plate bracket could go either way. I put a GBG on and had it powder coated gloss black to blend in but then I have a black bike already.
