Hey folks, I'm looking at putting an S&S setup on my '01 FXDP but I'm not sure which carb I should get or what the real difference is since I've never bought one before. From what I've read the Super E is an 1 7/8" and a Super G is 2 1/16" but I'm not sure if that's talkin about intake size or what. I don't have anything else done except a mild cam so it's not much more than a stock 88", I've just always loved the S&S look. Thanks
With your mild engine i think you would be better off having a good wrench tune your CV or buy a mikuni ez. I have s&s carbs before, IMO they kinda suck in the everyday ridability department. They will however throw some gas if your into WFO alot.
I wasn't aware that you could mount an S&S air cleaner to a stock carb. I always thought you had to have one of their carbs. Basically I'm only wanting the breather anyway so I guess I need to look into that option.

I believe S&S air cleaner kit part number 17-0450 is the one that will fit your bike:
If you did want to swap carbs, Super E between those two for the 88. Even with stage 1 and cams, the E is more than enough. I'm gonna do a Mikuni 42mm myself this winter when I bore to 97ci
