So I have about 1600 miles on my new dyna superglide and know not to rely on the fuel gauge so I end up filling up when I get down to about a quarter. The other morning I took it to work after riding all weekend and noticed it was reading empty I checked the computer, said I could get 36 more miles, filled it up and only it only took 3.8 gallons.
Is it really that far off? I have been checking my mileage and only getting about 40 MPG but most of it is hill country twistys so I'm obviosly not cruising.
So how many miles do most of you go on a tank and what kind of mileage you getting overall?
'11 fxdc gets same (40) mpg as yours with just v+h slipons. the best i got was about 50 mpg on longer highway cruise mostly in 6th gear. The worst I got was about 39 mpg.
I really don't rely on the fuel gauge much. I always reset the tri odometer at every fill up and I usually get gas at about 175 miles. I usually have at least a 1/2 a gallon left in the tank. I could probably go 200 miles but would rather not take the chance. The motor is basically stock with a stage one upgrade and I get anywhere between 40 to 50 miles per gallon. It depends on highway versus local . When I do get on it mileage has dropped as low as 34 to the gallon, I feel that is acceptable for the enjoyment Iam getting.....
