I recently put all my savings in an 09 Street Bob and I love it!
I was just wondering if it's easy enough for myself to spray paint the primary cover as you can see it kinda sticks out like a huge gray eyesore! I would love to paint the whole engine black but since i'm just 21 and I don't have the finances nor any experience painting/handling engines that's just not gonna happen.
Can anyone give me any tips?
(it's a pic of a couple of months ago, i took off the handlebars and replaced em with the original and installed black shortstops since then)

I dig the silver motor...but if you want it blacked out buy a new set of covers for both sides like the ones 07bobber is selling. The spray paint wont hold up as long as your bike will so youll be redoing it or end up disappointed when it starts looking bad. The new covers are good to cause as soon as you paint that primary you are gonna hate how the other side looks...then what?
Save your dough and replace the covers next time you get the bike serviced.
hit up 07 bobber man that is the way to go... spray paint is not going to last with the temp changes a primary goe though every time you ride... just swap with his cover and sell your stock on... bet it does not cost you much out of pocket when all is said and done
Embrace the grey blob my man! It's unique and a great contrast when you black the bike out further.
I, just like you, wanted a black engine at first....but I gotta tell ya, I think the 09 looks more "raw, basic and classic" this way. Like it really looks what Harley intended while creating this model.
Too much black is just that, black. Contrast helps.
Have it power coated dont paint it. I powder coat will last a long long time a spray can will not hold up to chips an heat change. I just dropped off about 15 pieces from my bike to have powder coated an its only gonna coat about 125.00. Spray cans r a **** way to do it spend the few buxs it will cost ya! you wont b sorry!
