It's not really a "relocation"....it's more of a replacement of the original turn sinal mount with the one that will accept the detach sissy. It's not as hard as you think. jack stand will help lower the wheel for more room. A few bolts to remove the signals then use the supplied hardware from the kit and the original signal. You have to cut the signal wires and this is the hard part- feed them through the small space alloted(you'll see). use some dish soap or other you'll need it. Then solder and heat shrink preferably but tape'll do. blue locktite the threads and tighten evenly. viola. any ?'s along the way do ask glad to help.

The dettachable sissy bar is nice to have. I usually leave just the solo seat on my bike, but it's nice to have the passenger pad and sissy bar. I would also recommend a luggage rack for the sissy bar and some throw over saddle bags. That's the set up I use for weekenders with the wife.

bruinx9 is on the right track. I did this mod myself, too. It's pretty simple, your just putting the docking hardware onto the fenderstruts. I took the signal wires and gently tapped them with a hammer to flatten them a little. That really helped the two wires feed through the small holes in the bolts. I tried the soap idea, and the wires were still too tough to pull through. This is pretty easy to do. I'm also glad to help with any questions.

i just put on detachables as i had rigids. what i did was use the standard strut mount and use the 2 new bolts in the front mount. for the rear mount i used a 1 inch shorter bolt than stock and screwed the turnsignal back on. i cut my wires, then routed them under the outer strut and through the hole in the fender then used same routing as before.

Vinny, I just put a detachable on my FXDC 2 weeks ago. You will replace the pillars the turn signals mount on with some that have room for the sissy bar to attach to. The first side took about an hour, the second 20 minutes. The only issue I had is you will have to cut the signal wires and reattach them. My wires were to short to crimp properly so to do it right I soldered them and resealed the wires. take the wires lose from taillight and it will give you more room to work with. And, when you cut them, do it about 2/3 of the way back. Farther back gives you more of a pigtail to work with. If you have questions, drop me an e-mail.
