I installed the rigid sissy bar because I did not want to relocate my turnsignals either. It's just two bolts on each side, easy as pie. Once you install the sissy bar, you probably will not remove it. I thought I would, but I never take it off. My friend has a detachable on his bike. He never takes it off.
had the dealer install the passenger pillion but i want to try to get a detachable sissy bar and put it on myself. i'm having trouble finding stuff for the '06 superglide. i also don't want to relocate my turn signals. is this possible? if so any info would help. thanks, vinny

Pretty much everything you've read is right on the button. When I purchased my '06 I had them install HD bags and the detachable docking gear but didn't purchase the detachable sissy bar and luggage rack until later. So ar I've used the detachables... zip! I've found that for travel up to a week, I can pack everything I need in my saddle bags and roll luggage that I bungee onto the Motherwell luggage rack I put on. The cash I spent on the detachables, so far wasted. Look at the pix and you'll see that on a weeks trip all I used was the bags and the roll bag.
