I've read bunch of posts about Dynas vibrating and some people putting shims between the lower motor mount and the bracket, well, i tried it myself yesterday and just like most post stated the motor mount separated from the bracket approx. 1/4 in on top and approx.1/8 on the bottom, i used some fender washers as shims and tighten the bolts, started the bike and could not believe just how much vibration that took out, thanks guys for sharing your ideas!
I shimed my motor mount the other day. Have not driven the bike yet. Hoping it will be good. Only just started to see some vibration during past two rides.
My 2010 WG vibrated more than I thought it should. Did the washer in the gap thing. Some improvement. Took it to the dealer without the washers, they did the alignment thing. Not much or noticeable improvement.
Experimented at the dealer the other Sat and Sun. Drove five Street Glides. Three red and two black. All had two to one hundred miles on the clock. Took bikes up to fifty five mph.
Big difference in engine noise and vibration at speed or at idle. There was only one out of the bunch that I would have purchased. But it was red. Not what I was looking for. The black denim and vivid bikes vibrated the worst. The vivid vibrated at any speed up to fifty five. I'm not implying that black bikes vibrate more than reds. What I'm saying is.
Test drive several bikes.
By the way, the Street Glide is a great handling bike for its size. I am going to trade in my WG when the right bike comes along.
I agree with jgreene, i bought the Dyna for the slight vibration. Feeling the engine pulses is what a Harley is all about, has been and hopefully will be in the future.
If you need a smooth feeling engine, get a 4 cylinder. I had a B engine that was smooth at idle, but an induced vibration was added to make sure the rider knew it was a Harley being ridden. Just sayin'. dd50
With 2500 miles on the clock my front rubber mount was rubbing on the metal frame of the motor mount. You could actually see it removing rubber from the mount. Took it to the dealer and asked them about it. They said this is commom and they could trim the rubber mount down so it will have the proper clearance. After they did this the vibs were practically gone. They did this under warranty.
