Mine is an Allen in the middle but the outside is a regular hex head. I use a regular 6pt socket. If yours doesnt have that you can always try suction on a hose to get the fluid out. Use this method until you can remove the cover and try to drill out the plug. You can also lift the bike, drill the center of the plug, then use an EZ Out to remove it.
If your drain plug is an allen, take the correct hex key, line it up and tap it in GENTLY.
You should be able to turn it out. It's a tapered pipe plug so it shouldn't be in there too tight.
Sometimes, I grind (or file) the end of the hex key flat. This actually gives you sharp edges and will cut it's way back into the distorted socket easier.

mine has a torkz screw as well. I have noticed such a small difference in size that if it slips any Im need to go up to the next size torx and it will fit perfect. That primary plug with the torx head is a standard hd part . Guess I need to figure out the part number for the one with the allen head myself.
It should only be lightly torqued. Sounds like someone may have even put locktite on it.

How would someone go about drilling that out with the bike on the ground? Not many avg folks have a 90* angle drill. You'd also have to own a lift/jack of some sort and you can't always bank on that either.

Try an easy out before you drill. You might get lucky and free it up. You might have to alter the easy out a bit, but I'd try that 1st.
common screw up is using a t-25 instead or the correct t-27. Be sure you are using a t-27. Also make sure you set the t-27 in deep enough and your not just half way in the bolt.
