Default Hey Rudedog

Whatever happened with the blacked out levers? How does the anodizing hold up? Still "testing" them? Were you able to get take offs phrom the dealer at a reasonable price?

Just curious, because I am still planning on adding them to my bike.

I've been searching around for some take offs at a few dealers but they either don't keep them or they want $10.00 a piece. That price is a little too much for the price I wanted to charge for them. If I could get them for $10.00 a pair then that would work out good. I put a post in the "Wanted to buy" forum and I got but 1 reply and even he wanted too much. I thought dealers would be happy to get the piles of levers out of the boxes and get something for them but I guess I was wrong.

Now that winter is here I could ask people to send me theirs and I'll anodize them and get them back before spring. Although i'd rather have the levers done and ready to go when the check arrives. My work has a maximum 5 day turn time on everything brought in, plus I'd need time to polish the levers before anodizing them. So from the time the levers are sent by you until the time you recieve them back it could be up to 2 weeks. I know if I lived down South I wouldn't want to be without my bike that long.

As far as the testing goes... I've got about 3,000 miles (mostly city) on mine and they are holding up real good. If you're still interested I'll do them for you but I forgot my original price... ?$35.00?

Yeah, I can't remember the price either. And I'm a year round southern rider, bike is the daily transport to work, so 2 weeks would be a bit much.

We'll have to work something out. I do really want to make the change, and if it comes down to me having to buy a set somewhere to send you I will. Either way it works out, I'm sure I'll wind up with an extra set, that I will be more then happy to send to you to get you started out.

If you had a couple of take off sets donated to start with, then you might have enough to *seed* the process to start, eh?

My thought process is that if you had 3 or 4 sets to start with before taking orders, you could have people send in their levers, then send them out ones that were already completed, process the ones you just got, then send them off to the next person who ordered some.

That would be a good way to get things rolling, and keep rolling. I think I could trust most people around here to send theirs to me when they recieve the finished ones. But there's always the ones who need to save a couple bucks and wouldn't want to ship theirs to me. I think if I could get about 4 or 5 sets, that would give me enough to get the people that responded to the first thread theirs.

I know there's other people watching this thread. Would any of you want to check at your dealer to see if you can get 4 or 5 sets for $10.00 a set? I'll cover the shipping, that is if your trustworthy.

This thread is turning into a WTB thread.
If anyone is offended I appologize.

Thanks Phreak. That'll help get the ball rolling.
I just gave you a reason to take a ride. Do I get points for that?

RudeDog, If you can file it away in your "need to do" file, pm me just around Christmastime. I will be in the states from the 20th to the 28th. I will send you my take off levers for the Streetglide. I also have a buddy who is a tech at the local dealer. Maybe he can come up with some. No promises there, but it never hurts to ask.
